  • Colors and Spirit Week…

The preschool is working on colors this week.  The teacher has asked that the children dress in the color they are working on each day.  It is also spirit week for homecoming.  The combination of the weeks has made for some fun days.

Monday is Red/Camo day.  We went with a red shirt and accessorized with camo material.

    Tuesday is Yellow/Superhero day.

Wednesday is Orange/Country Bling day.  Made my first pillowcase dress for this day.  I could not find any orange shirts for her at home or at our local Walmart.  I could find an orange pillowcase though.  Love her pink boots.

Thursday is Green/Crazy day.  Had fun with this one.  Look at her nails.

Friday was easy.  It was Blue/Bulldog Blue day.

    Strep…

Mae made it a whole week in school before getting sick.  She already has strep throat and was nice enough to share with her sister.  We spent a sick day just bumming around watching Winnie the Pooh.

    First day of school…

    Mae started to school today.

    Night before school…

My little girl is growing up.  Mae starts school tomorrow.  She and I spent some special time tonight reading The Kissing Hand.  I ‘heart’ that book.

    Shopping…

I was able to celebrate with the girls with shopping…

Mae is starting school, so we got new shoes.

Lou is now a big girl.

    My birthday…

I woke up the day before my birthday to a “surprise” party thrown by my husband and daughters.  So fun.  Then they dropped me off at the spa.  Such a nice day.

    Vacation…

This year we had a great vacation.  Here are a few pictures from our adventures…

    Piano bench…

A few year ago, I purchased a beautiful piano.  It is over 100 years old and was originally purchased as a wedding gift for a bride from her new husband.  It was purchased by mail order catalog.  I love my piano.  One day I am going to save up enough money to have it restored, but it works well enough to play a few songs for the girls.  With the piano came an over 100 year old piano bench, well I am nervous to sit on it.  So, we were given a little bench from D’s great aunts.  That has been acting as a piano bench for some time.  Well it had seen better days…

So, I decided to recover it.  I went digging in my box of fabric and came across some old curtains.  Added some padding and recovered the bench.  I thought about painting the legs, but it has character and matches the piano.  Not perfect, but love it…

    Movie Night…

It is amazing how excited little girls get with the simplest things.  Tonight we had movie night.  I asked D to stop by and pick up a movie on his way home from work.  I moved the couch a little closer to the television.  I popped some microwave popcorn.  I put it in some popcorn containers I found at Target for $1.  The girls thought they were awesome.  They were even allowed to have soda (something that does not happen very often).  The four of us split a 20 ounce bottle of coke.  All that turned a simple evening memorable.

    Happy birthday, D…

The weekend of D’s birthday was a little busy this year.  So, the girls and I surprised him with a birthday dinner a little early.  The girls love birthdays.  We had so much fun preparing and partying.
